I had paddled into a WMA near my house with my young pup late morning after working an overnight shift. The wind was blowing out of the north… I knew there had to have been fresh birds. I set the rig and took cover and experience with a bit of luck paid off. There were birds tooling everywhere and very shortly after this pretty hen pintail came in. The way she decoyed was beautiful, the shot well placed, and the pups retrieve made me proud. Even without a decoy she would remain memorialized in my minds eye… but she deserved more.
